Where are we?

Below you will find our location from our tracker, as well as recent photo’s from Instagram. We are the red dot… Probably not moving, and probably out snorkeling.

Cruiser pups. 😍❤️🥰 Cruiser pups. 😍❤️🥰
Once Brad and I had a day of rest from the crossin Once Brad and I had a day of rest from the crossing, we headed to San Juanico to meet up with friends. It’s been a lovely reward after all the time isolated in the yard and San Carlos! The days are filled with friend/puppy time, beach walks, potlucks and beautiful scenery. This is the cruising/community that we so desperately missed and it is so fun to see Penny thrive! Huge thanks to @sailingalegria for being the hosts with the mosts and taking the best group photos! ❤️🏆
Yesterday we crossed over to Baja! It was a big f Yesterday we crossed over to Baja! It was a big first sail for little miss Penny…and she did her best. She puked 3 times and was pretty miserable but did a great job of being calm. I’m pretty sure we owe her lots of treats and attention to make up for such a betrayal. 🤣. As for Perspective, she raced us across the sea in speedy fashion! We hit a top speed of 9.6 surfing down a wave but regularly saw over 8kts speed. As usual we were surprised at how much we had to reef her down to keep balanced. Eventually we cruised with a double reefed main and a tiny bit of headsail and things felt way better. 👍🏻 Glad the crossing is done and today will be a clean up and recovery day. 🤪
Back to our regular program…feels great to be on Back to our regular program…feels great to be on the hook! Ahhhh ❤️
I think it’s safe to say that Penny LOVES the be I think it’s safe to say that Penny LOVES the beach! Wow!
This trio of goobers has left the dock! We did a This trio of goobers has left the dock! We did a quick motor to a nearby anchorage so Penny could hear the engine and get used to life on the hook. She did great! Along the way we saw dolphins and lots of birds. Life is good. 🥰🎉❤️
Sleep well, Azera! Feels so strange but we are on Sleep well, Azera! Feels so strange but we are once again without a car. Super grateful for the all the successful and comfortable trips we’ve taken not to mention the thousands of dollars saved in rental fees! All thanks to Brad’s Dad for gifting the car as a wedding present. ❤️. We won’t be needing a car because we are planning to leave Mexico. Panama, here we come!
Boat projects look a little different these days. Boat projects look a little different these days. 😈🤣
Brad asked me to make some anchor chain bags so I Brad asked me to make some anchor chain bags so I made 3! I was happy to hand over the machine to Brad so he could attach the straps as he wanted them to be. Penny was a huge “help” in measuring the material. 🥰 Go team!
Good news and bad news…the good news is that we Good news and bad news…the good news is that we are slowly getting the boat more livable and Penny seems to be settling in. The bad news is that over the summer our dinghy went into self destruct mode. The aluminum bottom is riddled with new holes. Brad did some repair work and now we will wait and see what happens…stay tuned! We did add a zinc to the dinghy to see if that will help future corrosion. 🤞🏻
Things are moving along….the dodger is now fully Things are moving along….the dodger is now fully installed, deck hardware is finished and the headliner is back up. It’s almost time for the tools to be put away! 🤞🏻🥳
Today was a good day! We took down the headliner Today was a good day! We took down the headliner so we could install the stays’l track and granny bars. We realized we didn’t order enough of the track stoppers but it was no problem…Brad 3D printed 4 more. He will put those on tomorrow as well as install some clutches, blocks and a winch. Getting closer and closer!
Penny is a boat dog for Halloween!! Finally we wer Penny is a boat dog for Halloween!! Finally we were able to introduce her to her new home. Things are a little spooky but she’s doing great. 🥰❤️
Yes!!!! We are finally free!!!!!! So grateful for Yes!!!! We are finally free!!!!!! So grateful for all the wonderful work and help we received at the yard. Whew!!!!
Tomorrow is splash day and Perspective is looking Tomorrow is splash day and Perspective is looking oh so beautiful! The marina is pretty empty so at least we have that going for us. We still have things left on the list but doing them in the water will be infinitely better. Can’t wait!!! 🥹🤞🏻🤞🏻
The rudder delay has been a journey! Thankfully w The rudder delay has been a journey! Thankfully we had helpful intel on a local machine shop to separate the rudder bearing from the shaft and to fix the pitting. During the repair, Brad got sick with a nasty cold but he still managed to get everything done in a reasonable time. As usual, he made it better than new! Funny to think this was one of the last boat parts that he hasn’t swapped out or fixed. Glad it’s off the list! Now we will wait for the travel lift to be available to drop us in. Looks like next Wednesday! 🎉. If anyone is looking for a sweet pup, Buddy, is available! ❤️
Brad got a little help from his friends at the yar Brad got a little help from his friends at the yard…and now the rudder is off! Despite his best efforts to get the bronze bushing unstuck, it’s still stuck. Hopefully he will have better luck tomorrow with a higher heat gas. 🤞🏻Action photos taken by SV Red Witch. 😎
A bit of wiggling and determination, the rudder is A bit of wiggling and determination, the rudder is ready to drop. Brad and crew have the rudder braced until we get lifted up. 👍🏻
Yesterday Brad was able to remove the prop and dis Yesterday Brad was able to remove the prop and disassemble the steering quadrant. Today he is hoping he can get the rudder ready to drop. Unfortunately we need to use the travel lift to lift us up to drop the rudder, so we need to be ready with no surprises. Stay tuned! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
We thought we were splashing tomorrow morning…su We thought we were splashing tomorrow morning…surprise surprise! Looks like we will be dropping the rudder instead. Brad put our wheel back on this morning and went to center the rudder. He was met with resistance and now we have some investigating to do. While the delay sucks, we are both glad it happened now and not in the water. 👍🏻
